1.  "Who Moved My Cheese"

GO TO MODULE 5 And read the story "WHO MOVED MY CHEESE". DO YOU BELIEVE THAT ITS IMPORTANT TO BE LIKE SNIFF AND SCURRY AND BE RESISTANT TO CHANGE. GIVE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES FROM THE STORY.

  • In my opinion Administrator should be like “Sniff and Scurry”. The approach taken by “Sniff and Scurry” demonstrates one’s ability to accept and adapt to change. An Administrator should always be able to evaluate their environment, know what is changing in environment and plan what it will take to get to the future environment.
  • When dealing with “Hem and Haw”, I would encourage them to think “outside the box” and explore other possibilities. I would also direct them to review past results that ended in demise when people did not accept change. And also give successfully example when change was accepted. If “Hem and Haw” still refused to conform and impede progress I would encourage them to seek employment somewhere more suitable to their way of thinking, voluntarily or involuntarily.

2. "Alone Together"

In Sherry Tucker's latest book, Alone Together:Why We Expect More From Technology: Why We Expect More From TEchnology and Less From Each Othe (2011), she says that "technology is changing how people relate to one another and construct their own inner lives" and people are making "convenience and control a prority while diminishing the expectations we have of other human beings". (See http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/books/22book.html) Turkel's argument is that the virtual life made possible by technology tools is changing our "real"lives in fundamental ways. What evidence can you present that we relate to each other differently because of our techology tools

  • The most fundament thing that the use of technology tools has changed is how we communicate with each other. Why is there a need to text to someone about what they did today while they are sitting next to you at the dinner table? While the invention of these technology tools has made all of our lives better in all aspects, I agree our real lives are being changed fundamentally because of technology. The advancement of technology has come with a price. We have lost that personal interaction with others. Technology has benefited us in so many ways, education, medicine, transportation, mass media, etc., but it also brought issue that would have never occurred before, cyberbullying, child pornography, hacking, etc. As with any new invention how we choose use them determine how they affect your lives.
3.  "PowerPoint Is Evil"

  • As history goes, the emergence of any new technology has drawn both approval and criticism. The introduction of the PowerPoint software has been no different. At the time this article was written, PowerPoint software was next in a series of technology that enhanced the use of visual presentations.
  • I agree that some PowerPoints are not effective and sometimes do not deliver the intended message.  But with PowerPoints or any other presentation mechanism the structure of the content and the presenters’ delivery of the content affects what information the audience gains. When creating a PowerPoint one should keep mind the overall message they are trying to deliver and the aptitude of the audience they are presenting it to. PowerPoint can be a great teaching tool when they are created correctly.
